On 25 January 2012, Ambassador Manuel M. Lopez welcomed officials from the City of Kitakyushu who presented the City’s pledge of ¥1 million in cash (approximately P543 Thousand) as humanitarian assistance for those affected by Typhoon Sendong in the Philippines.

Sumitomo Corporation & Sumitomo Corporation Asia Pte. Ltd. recently donated JPY10 million to assist relief and recovery efforts in the aftermath of Typhoon “Sendong” (International Name: Washi) which hit the southern part of the Philippines last December.
The donation, coursed through the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo, will be turned over to proper authorities in the Philippines.
